Ryan and Lou have another zombie movie discussion for this week, going a bit outside the traditional zombie genre with Mayhem. But before we get to the movie, we have a good helping of zombie news to discuss! Thanks to the PlayStation Showcase we have a few zombie video game updates, including a first look at the Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode and Arizona Sunshine 2 was announced. Speaking of Resident Evil though, thanks to Sudbury we may have our first bit of confirmation on a Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City sequel. Finally, Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd will be reuniting in a new zombie film this summer.
We kick start the show wondering where all the zombie news has gone, but likely the wait for San-Diego Comic-Con is to blame. But that being said, after chatting about maybe picking up some zombie games on sale, we finally have our first full trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City. Lou and Ryan are cautiously optimistic about the new series and look forward to the premiere on June 18th! Moving into our topic, Fear The Walking Dead has returned and we’re ready to discuss the premiere episode for the FINAL season.
We kick off the show by checking in with Lou’s time in Resident Evil 4 and the Mercenaries Mode. We then move into our main topic for the episode, Wyrmwood Apocalypse, the sequel to Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead from 2014. Closing out the show we have a piece of Listener Feedback that has us diving back in time to Episode 5. Oh, and be sure to stay past the outro for a bit of bonus show! Spoilers for Signs by the way, but you should watch NOPE.
After a short delay to our schedule, we’re back to discuss the remake of Resident Evil 4. But before we get into Capcom’s latest zombie adventure, we go through the zombie news! HBO has wrapped up Season 1 of The Last of Us, and we’re ready to revisit this story one more time! But before we break down our thoughts on Season 1 of The Last of Us we have some zombie news. In The Walking Dead world from AMC, we have our first official trailer for the final season of Fear The Walking Dead and a premiere date for Dead City. Speaking of The Last of Us, Part 1 is now available on Steam but you may want to hold off for a few more patches. Continuing the video game trend, Left 4 Dead 3 was referenced in the Counter Strike 2 code and Resident Evil 4 has received some very cool anime shorts. Oh, and of course we chat about our first impressions for the Resident Evil 4 remake. Busy episode this week, but a good chunk of zombie fun!
We return to the 70’s this episode to discuss Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie), as we take a break from the more recent zombie adventures from HBO and AMC. We have a month’s worth of zombie news to go over, including a few cool zombie projects to highlight! There’s a new audio drama anthology series called The Lost Days podcast, plus a cool Kickstarter for an ongoing zombie anthology comic called Outbreaks (ends March 31st). In Resident Evil 4 news, we discuss our time with the demo and Fortnite once again adapts the Resident Evil IP. Wrapping up the zombie news for this episode, we have our first look at the Daryl Dixon spinoff and Bruce Campbell is going on tour.
Ryan and Lou are ready to check back in with The Last of Us since they’ve hit their mid-season mark on HBO. Plus we have some zombie news to catch up on including Dead Island 2 moving it’s release date up a week, Resident Evil will be receiving another CG movie this summer, and AMC adds five more to the cast of The Walking Dead spin-off Daryl Dixon.
Ryan and Lou finally get a chance to watch One Cut of the Dead for the podcast, and very much enjoyed the experience! But before we dive into this fun zombie movie making adventure, we catch up on the latest zombie news. Alongside fans of The Last of Us we mourn the passing of Annie Wersching who played Tess, HBO has renewed The Last of Us for a second season, The Day Before has been delayed to November, Night of the Living Dead will return in audio form, Turtle Rock will not be developing any new content for Back 4 Blood, and Evil Dead: The Game will be featured in February’s PlayStation Plus offering.
Ryan and Lou are excited to discuss the premiere episode of The Last of Us on HBO! But before the return to one of our favourite zombie tales, we catch up on some The Walking Dead news from AMC and the fact that HBO is doing awesome numbers with that Last of Us premiere.
