We’ve got Resident Evil on the brain thanks to the latest CG film Death Island. Also CAPCOM announced a few new exciting Resident Evil projects that we highlight in the news section of the show. But before that, we have a director for Twilight of the Dead, and AMC gives us a first look at the final episodes of Fear The Walking Dead. For the Resident Evil news, the Resident Evil 4 remake is getting Separate Ways as DLC (which we’ll be covering next week), and the iPhone 15 Pro will be receiving the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village. After the news we kick off our Resident Evil Death Island discussion, tuck in as CAPCOM brought the whole gang out for this one!
Evil Dead Rise is up this week as we dive into some zombie movie discussions before returning to The Walking Dead. But before the latest deadite avoiding adventure, we catch up on zombie news from the past few weeks. Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has been delayed to Summer 2024, change The Walking Dead Seasons 1-4 with the Destinies game, and The Day Before may have a new name soon. Maggie and Negan return in The Walking Dead: Dead City, plus we have a month’s worth of zombie news to catch up on! First up in zombie news, Twilight of the Dead appears to be moving forward, then we move over to the incredible Resident Evil Humble Bundle. Hopping over to San Diego Comic-Con news, The Walking Dead did not disappoint with the announcement of a new game The Walking Dead Betrayal, we have confirmation that Troy will return to conclude Fear The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon and Dead City are renewed for a second season (plus a Daryl Dixon trailer), and Rick and Michonne have a new series name and trailer.
We’re ready to wrap up the first half of Fear The Walking Dead’s final season, but before that we have some zombie news to catch up on! In a will they/won’t they situation, Melissa McBride WILL BE starring in the Daryl Dixon spin off after all, Dying Light 2 will have a Walking Dead crossover soon, and character details leak for The Last of Us Part 3. Morgan Jones has some adventure left in him, and here at ZAMP we’re excited to see what the character does next!
We have a fun zombie movie for you this week with Freaks of Nature (2015)! But before we get to the zombies, vampires, aliens, AND MORE, we have some zombie news to go over. Thanks to Summer Game Fest we have our first look at John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. We also have a date for Resident Evil: Death Island, Callisto Protocol has some new DLC, and Marvel Zombies returns this October in comic book form!
Ryan and Lou have another zombie movie discussion for this week, going a bit outside the traditional zombie genre with Mayhem. But before we get to the movie, we have a good helping of zombie news to discuss! Thanks to the PlayStation Showcase we have a few zombie video game updates, including a first look at the Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode and Arizona Sunshine 2 was announced. Speaking of Resident Evil though, thanks to Sudbury we may have our first bit of confirmation on a Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City sequel. Finally, Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd will be reuniting in a new zombie film this summer.
We kick start the show wondering where all the zombie news has gone, but likely the wait for San-Diego Comic-Con is to blame. But that being said, after chatting about maybe picking up some zombie games on sale, we finally have our first full trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City. Lou and Ryan are cautiously optimistic about the new series and look forward to the premiere on June 18th! Moving into our topic, Fear The Walking Dead has returned and we’re ready to discuss the premiere episode for the FINAL season.
We kick off the show by checking in with Lou’s time in Resident Evil 4 and the Mercenaries Mode. We then move into our main topic for the episode, Wyrmwood Apocalypse, the sequel to Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead from 2014. We start with the sad news that Lance Reddick has passed away at the age of 60, AMC has announced a new The Walking Dead project, The Day Before re-emerges with the promise of a beta, Dead Island 2 is out and we discuss some of the reviews, there’s a new trailer for Resident Evil Death Island, and Resident Evil 4 receives surprise micro transactions after launch. After our Resident Evil 4 discussion, we close out the show with a listener email.
HBO has wrapped up Season 1 of The Last of Us, and we’re ready to revisit this story one more time! But before we break down our thoughts on Season 1 of The Last of Us we have some zombie news. In The Walking Dead world from AMC, we have our first official trailer for the final season of Fear The Walking Dead and a premiere date for Dead City. Speaking of The Last of Us, Part 1 is now available on Steam but you may want to hold off for a few more patches. Continuing the video game trend, Left 4 Dead 3 was referenced in the Counter Strike 2 code and Resident Evil 4 has received some very cool anime shorts. Oh, and of course we chat about our first impressions for the Resident Evil 4 remake. Busy episode this week, but a good chunk of zombie fun!
